Travelling with My Paint Brush
We love to travel. Frank and I take a couple of trips per year and then I also make sure I hop on the bandwagon with my mom when she goes someplace fun. I always take my sketch book and a box of watercolors...I like to take the extra time to paint a little sketch rather than just snap a photo.
The little extra time makes you really look at a subject and fix it in your memory. I've selected a couple of pieces from a trip we took to Mexico last year.... the colors and shapes captured in my sketch book were translated in the studio to these larger images.
The piece "Petat!" is of a public bus "jumper" who rides along on the steps and tries to charm the public into coming aboard-- it's called Petat because that is the end destination he shouted every 10 seconds.
